Iron Maiden vs. The Beatles

Not everyone who likes The Beatles is a fanatic. Most people don’t own a single album of theirs but rather a handful of singles.

Every fan of Iron Maiden, on the other hand, is a die-hard fanatic. They own every album. They watch every video. They go to every concert.

You have two choices when engaging with the market.

  1. Try to be the first, hoping to connect with everyone.
  2. Identify and connect with a specific group of people.

Commitment

There’s a reason Iron Maiden has released thirty-eight albums. There’s a reason they’ve sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. (Pretty remarkable considering few people anyone of know is a fan.)

It’s because they’re committed to Iron Maiden and their fans. Nothing will get in their way from serving either.

I you identify with a group of people, then committing to them is easy. You’re already one of them so it’s just a matter of being yourself around them, but with the added duty of serving and leading them.
